Lord Jasper of Hartshorn-dale, Companion of the Silver Heart and Bearer of the Silver Horns

Unto to their Majesties, Highnesses, and the current baronage and populace of the great Barony of Stierbach do we, Magnifica Helena Hrolfsdottir and Lord Jasper of Hartshorn-dale give greetings and bring word of our hope to be considered as heirs to Baroness Cynthia and Baron Dunstan.

Our history with the SCA and with the Barony of Stierbach is long and forms the backbone of our lives. Magnifica Helena was raised in the society, and Lord Jasper found it through a demonstration at his school when he was but a lad. We met at a dance practice in the Shire of Hartshorn-dale in the East as callow youths, and from this blossomed our love story. We spent the years of our youth and early adulthood playing with the Shire and exploring our varied interests in the Society.

We moved to the shores of Atlantia and this great Barony as young adults looking for work, and were greatly welcomed by the folk of your Canton of Sudentorre. (They made a giant painting of our wedding!) The society and friendship we found here were a great boon to us after moving far from home, to a place where we had no connections. This experience of the SCA as a welcoming community forms the core of what we wish to encourage if we are selected as Baronage. This Society is how we found each other and many of our dearest friends, it is the community to which we turn in need – and we wish it to be so for many others.

We have served this Barony, its Canton of Sudentorre and the kingdom of Atlantia in varied ways over the past two decades. Helena has led monthly dance practice in Fredericksburg for 15 years and currently serves as both the Canton’s Minister of Arts & Sciences and Webminister. She previously served as chatelaine for the Atlantian Dance Academy and currently serves as the Dance Track coordinator for Atlantian University. Jasper recently stepped down from a four-year term as Canton Seneschal, and has served as Head Cook for Defending the Gate for several years. Beyond these official positions, we can be found engaged in teaching and service at Pennsic, various Known World events, and the halls and kitchens of events throughout Atlantia and her neighboring kingdoms.

In our time here in Stierbach we have been privileged to witness the leadership of many great Barons and Baronesses. It is our hope if we are selected to join their ranks that we will be able to nurture the creativity and discovery of the people of Stierbach. We wish to grow our community and enable their endeavours across the spectrum of SCA pursuits.

Baron Christopher MacConing OL, OP, OD

To Their Royal Highnesses, The Seneschal for the Virginia Region, and the Good Populace of the Barony of Stierbach does Master Christopher MacConing send his regards,

Word has reached me that Their Excellencies of Stierbach, Baron Dunstan and Baroness Cynthia Anne have made it known that they will be stepping down, and as such The Crowns of Atlantia shall require new Stewardship for these lands. After some consideration, I have decided that I will step forward and provide my letter of intent to serve as Baron of these good lands, and to ask for consideration by the populace during the next Baronial polling.

While I have only resided within these lands a relatively short time, I have watched as this Barony has carried itself with honor and pride since before my arrival as well as in years before when I traveled to these lands. I have participated at Baronial events, partaking of tournaments, art, food, and good fellowship, counting many in this Barony as friends and peers. Through all of this and more, Stierbach has become my home, to which I will dedicate my skills and experience in service, art, and combat.

These skills I offer are by no means meager. Most recently I served for many years as Seneschal to your neighbors in Dun Carraig during which those lands did prosper. Before that, I have actively served at the Canton, Baronial, and Kingdom Levels for close to 3 decades, serving wherever or in whatever position needed me. I have taken the field in both Heavy and Rapier combat, fighting with honor for my Kingdom, Household, Lady, and home, earning recognition for my leadership and skill. And during times of peace, I have served my people with my art, shaping metal into items of beauty that recognized occasion, armor that have held fast against the blows of combatants, and weapons that true to their deadly intent.

For all of this, as well as the qualities I carry and encourage in others, I have been recognized at the Baronial, Kingdom, and Society level. These are the skills I offer to Stierbach, should I be chosen to stand as a Baron or not.

With these skills to offer, and with honest intent to serve its people, I ask to be considered to stand as Baron of these great lands.
