The symbol of the Seneschal’s office is a key. Traditionally, this position was the chief steward of a noble household.

Greetings Medieval Readers,

You may (or may not) be aware that the leading administrator of the best Barony has been replaced – but NOT due to any delicious scandal. Dróttin Þorgrímr kráka has completed his term as our Seneschal and Lady Jenefer de Winter has been selected by Thier Excellenices to fill this vital role.

Lady Jenefer has served in many roles here in Stierbach, most recently as the Autocrat of Baronial Birthday and part of the Autocrat team that organized Holiday Faire. She has been a reliable presence in the Barony for quite some time.

Yours truly had the chance to ask a few questions of our busy Seneschal and here are her responses in our first ever edition of “Get to Know Your Seneschal.”

What brought you to the SCA?

“I was already SCA-adjacent because of the number of friends I had who were already involved in the SCA. At the time I began attending events regularly it was because I had the available time, and I was excited to indulge my inner-history nerd.”

What keeps you coming back?

“Simple, the people. I’ve made some amazing new friends since I began playing as well as the fact I get to spend more time with a lot of my old friends.”

What advice would you give to someone thinking of joining the SCA here in Stierbach?

“Come on out and join us! We have some of the most helpful and friendly folks who are happy to show any newcomer the ropes, answer questions, and help them get involved in our activities. It’s one of the things I love most about Stierbach!”

Thank you Lady Jenefer for sharing your time and your thoughts. This particular member of the Best Barony predicts only good things under your tenure!
