From Their Excellencies:
We had an event two weeks ago! More details are coming at the Canton Business Meeting next Tuesday. It was a successful event! As a first-time event steward, I appreciate everyone who jumped in to help make this event happen.
Last week was Coronation. We have a new King and Queen! They have announced a Crown Tourney coming soon. LEAFS and Revenge of the Stitch are also coming up. Their Excellencies will be splitting up to attend each event.
Populace Questions and Notes
Officer Reports:
Seneschal: Quarterly report has been submitted. Officers, please let Jen know if you have not submitted your report.
We need to have a Chatelaine in place shortly. Demo season is coming! If you know anyone who would do well in the position, please let Jen know.
QuarterMaster: No report.
Exchequer: The price of our storage locker is going up (about $700/year).
A motion was put forward to provide the extra funds to pay for our storage unit. It has been about 10 years since they raised the price of the unit. The motion was voted on and passed.
We are also looking for an emergency deputy, ideally to take over as Exchequer in a few years. If you are interested, please let Jen know!
Chatelaine: Vacant position.
Knights Marshall: No report.
Minister of the list: No report.
MOAS: Classes are going strong! The schedule of spring classes is on the website.
In March, we had a Zoom class on “How to be An Autocrat.” Notes from that class are also on the blog. The Scriptorium on March 20th was also successful.
April 17th will be another scriptorium. If you are interested in learning how to make scrolls – please come out. May classes are also coming! May 22nd will be a really interesting embroidery class – more info coming.
A reminder that the in-person classes are generally held at Bethel Lutheran Church (room B7) 8712 Plantation Ln, Manassas, VA 20110.
New Herald: The court report for Defending the Gate has been sent in. A quarterly report has been submitted!
Chronicler: We are up to date with the kingdom! Master Richard will contact the kingdom to get a reset password email so Genefe can access the chronicler email.
WebMinister: We now have an officers’ email list. Emails need to be sent and received from your official account to be included in this mailing list. The newsletter is working well. If you would like to add to the blog, please let Master Richard know. More content is always better!
We will also begin posting links to the ZOOM meeting to the email list.
Old Business:
We have a bid for Baronial Birthday from Lady Rita and Gallena. Duke Logan raised concerns over the affordability of events in our area. Mistress Ceridwyn also raised concerns over including the cost of food in our site fees. Lord Thomas emphasized that the food has been really good lately! He also emphasized the value of the nice things we have been accustomed to like site tokens, tourney prizes, and etc. Lady Katherine asked if we are looking at a cap per family for attendance. No cap is currently planned. Lady Katherine also asked if there would be equestrian activities for Baronial Birthday. As this is the first event that our new Autocrats are running – they have opted not to have equestrian activities. Baroness Genefe thanked Rita and Gallena for putting together a bid as first time autocrats, and also advocated for a family cap. Genefe put forward a motion to approve the budget for Baronial Birthday with the edits of including the correct ages and a family cap. A big thank you to Lady Rita and Lady Gallena for putting themselves forward as autocrats for this event.
Closing Remarks from Their Excellencies
When we are looking at planning events, the points that were made tonight are all a part of this process. What people really get from going to our events is important because it keeps people coming back. Follow our progress – please come spend time with us. Details will be posted on our Baronial website.
PLEASE SUBMIT REWARD RECOMMENDATIONS! We accept emails, messages, and award recommendations through the ESP. The ESP is really the best way to get us info, but we will take what we can get! Send us stuff and tell us all the great things that are going on! Thank you to those who are sending us messages 🙂
From our Seneschal:
A big thank you to our new Event Stewards! Nice work, ladies.
Meeting adjourned at 8:39 pm.
