From their Excellencies:

Their Excellencies are looking forward to the fall event season including our upcoming Baronial Birthday this weekend!  Her Excellency is especially looking forward to seeing everyone who can attend.

Pennsic was great!  Thank you to everyone who helped to make our camp so special.  We hosted the First Inter-Collegiate Unofficial War Point Bardic in our camp this year.  It was a wonderful and well-attended event.  We should do it again!

Updates from the Seneschal:

The next Curia will take place on September 14th at 3 pm.  The link will be put out as we get closer to September.  If you are interested in attending Curia, mark it on your calendars.  These meetings are where Kingdom law is debated and adopted.  If you have strong opinions on any of the topics that will be covered or you have any questions – please let their Excellencies or our Seneschal know so they can speak for you.

Atlantia University is also coming!  This would be a great opportunity to take Seneschal 101 and 102 on Sunday.  These classes will be offered virtually.

Officer Reports:

QuarterMaster:  We will be loading up a trailer Thursday at 5:30 to grab stuff for Baronial Birthday.  We would love your help if you can come out.

Exchequer: A separate report with financial details is attached at the end.

Checks were written for Baronial Birthday expenses.  All items were included in our event budget.

The Barony also received a donation of almost $100 from the service of Steribachers during Gulf Wars.  Merchants and pre-registrations for Holiday Faire are also rolling in.

Any receipts that you would like to submit for Baronial Birthday need to be turned into the Seneschal by Monday, September 29th.

We are looking for a deputy exchequer!

Knights Marshall: No report.

Minister of the list: No report

MOAS:  Our third quarter report was submitted on time.  Nine people came out for Open Crafting time at the church for A&S night in August.  It was a very pleasant evening and people who attended would like to do this again!

There will be FOUR classes at Baronial Birthday this weekend and dance and also three competitions! Check out our event website for more details

19 September: A&S Class: Painting Parasols II

Parasol comes from the Latin “para-“, to shield or protect, and “sol” which means “sun.” The parasol is generally smaller than the umbrella in size and considered meant to protect skin from the sun.

The activity will be held on September 19, 2024, from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm at

Bethel Lutheran Church (room B7)

8712 Plantation Ln, Manassas, VA 20110

3 October: A&S ZOOM Class: Making Goat Cheese

(by Lady Vincetta De of Greyhold, Kingdom of the Outland)

The activity will be held on October 03, 2024, from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm

Herald:  Lady Katherine has put a couple things together for Baronial Birthday including some office hours during the event. We have a few people getting ready to sign off on name and heraldry submissions!

Chronicler: The blog continues.  Newsletters are being sent to Kingdom as they are published 🙂  Send Genefe content for the blog please. (chronicler@stierbach.atlantia.sca.org)  Thank you to Norbert for the content last month!

Chatelaine:  Lady Runa has touched based with a few folks who have reached out via Facebook and email.  Our quarterly report was filed back in July and the next one is not due for a bit. Lady Runa will also be there on Saturday with our Gold Key.  We are expecting members of the Mary Washington Ren Club and probably a few newcomers. Thank you to Master Richard and Mistress Ceridwen for sharing their tent space for Gold Key at Baronial Birthday!

WebMinister:  Event websites are up to date!  If you notice anything that is off – please contact Master Richard and he will fix it.

Old Business:

Baronial Birthday Update:

Everything is going great!  We are ready for a fabulous event this weekend 🙂

There are MANY activities planned for this weekend – Thank you Lady Rita for all of your hard work!

We will be setting up on Friday afternoon starting at 3 pm.  Many hands make light work so please come out and help!

We could also use your help with tear down on Saturday night.

Holiday Faire Update:

As of about an hour ago – there are about 16 merchants registered for Holiday Faire including three new-to-us merchants.  We are set to have SCORES open in October.  Our website had a huge update this week and will have another shortly.

New Business:

From Sir Bumi:  Sir Bumi has been working to build our martial community through his hosted practices.  There is a need for two new helmets and some kydex sheets along with some other sundry materials to make the armor our new fighters need.  Sir Bumi is asking for $1200 for materials. He is happy to make his practice an official practice once he is officially a marshal.

Concerns were raised about how to account for these materials or how to maintain loaner armor.  Others talked about the need to eliminate some of the barriers-to-entry for our new fighters.

From Chris LeStrange:  Chris is looking for an autocrat to help run Royal Archer next year.  Chris has a budget and has an approval to use the same site as Baltimore Bowmen in the Barony of Bright Hills.  This event will take place next June.  If you can help, please contact Chris at Chrisrstrange@gmail.com

This is generally a smaller event and a great way to get your feet wet if you are interested in autocrating an event.

Closing Remarks from their Excellencies

We are still looking for an event steward for Defending the Gate hosted by the Canton of Sudentorre. Please consider coming out to their business meeting next Tuesday night.  Their Excellencies will be there!

PLEASE SUBMIT REWARD RECOMMENDATIONS! We accept emails, messages, and award recommendations through the esp.  The esp is really the best way to get us info but we will take what we can get!  Send us stuff and tell us all the great things that are going on!  Thank you to those who are sending us messages 🙂

Meeting adjourned at 8:22 pm.
