A&S ZOOM class: Saints
(by William)
What did saints do in medieval times?
Their lives were full of examples of resistance to temptation and evil, and heroic faith
and virtue which could teach, encourage, and inspire. The saints could petition for the
spiritual and physical needs of their devotees.

A&S Class: Pyrography
(by Rita Die Perle Von Der Wetterau)
Pyrography is an art practiced by disparate cultures worldwide for thousands of
years, including ancient societies in China, Rome, and Egypt Pyrography comes from
the Greek word “pyro” – meaning “fire” – and “graphos” – meaning “writing”. It
essentially refers to anything written or carved on a surface using fire or heat and
translates broadly into “writing with fire”. The term “woodburning” is often used as a
synonym for the art, as wood is the most common medium used.

A&S ZOOM Class: How to create an event.
(by Lady Jenefer de Winter)
The SCA community has thousands of members in kingdoms around the world. Our
participants learn about the arts, skills, and culture of the Middle Ages in an atmosphere
of fun, through tournaments, courts, festivities such as feasts, dancing, classes,
workshops and more. To have fun at those events we need members of individuals to
create an event whether it is small or grand. You don’t have to be afraid. I have been in
the SCA for a long time, and I attended many events and I catch my self-saying well I
would do this or that. So, to make a difference I helped with different events and
eventually I gave my first event. I must say very gratifying. No one can do it by itself and
if you have a group that works well with each other I know we can come up with so
wonderful events. Looking forward to next year.
The activity will be held on December 12, 2024, from

A&S Class: End of the Year 2024 POTLUCK
(by Natalie Henderson Baird & Rita Die Perle Von Der Wetterau)
The term “potluck” first appeared in print in the 15th century and was used to describe what
an unexpected guest ate, or whatever was being cooked that night. Simply sharing the space
of eating nurtures, a sense of community and togetherness. I hope I will see you and if not, I do
wish you a wonderful ending of 2024.
