The Lochmere Arrow Competition and Open Shoot
A bustling carnival honoring our great Barony and the camaraderie and courage of its populace.
August 7, 2021 / Barony of Stierbach’s 23rd Baronial Birthday / The Festival of the Charging Bull
This year’s Lochmere Arrow Shoot is being hosted by the Barony of Stierbach, the home of its last winner’s, Baron Dietrich Saphir and Lord David of Stierbach. The Lochmere Arrow shoot is designed for teams of two shooters (from the same group - defined as having a seneschal, so a barony, shire or canton). A group can field as many or as few teams as it desires.
The shoot is designed to be challenging, but even if you are a novice archer or not on a team, you can still come out and shoot for fun! In addition to the first prize, the Lochmere Arrow for the top scoring team, there will be award arrows for the 2nd and 3rd place teams as well. If your team happens to be the winner of this shoot, the archers are responsible for designing the next year's shoot (which can be held in conjunction with another event). Being the winning team does not mean you cannot shoot your own course the next year - you can try and defend your title!
If you are not shooting the Lochmere Arrow Competition, there is still a chance to show your abilities! There will be awards presented to winners in the Open Shoot categories of each of the RR Ranks (Novice, Archer, Bowmen, etc). PLUS this year, a Mystery Award sponsored by the Order of the Yew Bow, to the highest scorer on a secret target all day!
Finally, there will be 10-12 stations PLUS, a Clout shoot (long-distance) to start the day for ALL planning to shoot (Lochmere or Open), so if you are a shooter, be sure to bring plenty of arrows or bolts!
If your are planning to shoot the Lochmere Arrow, your team MUST shoot the range before you shoot for Open/fun scores. You can not shoot the range and return to shoot for the L. A. scores. Archers shooting Open only can shoot at any time. Separate sign in/score cards will be provided when checking in at archery range. A practice range will web open prior to the shoot(s) start time.
